CIRQUE ELOIZE: The Grand Re-Opening of the Sony Centre of the Performing Arts
By Dana Marie Krook
October 2010 saw the official Grand Re-opening of the Sony Centre of the Performing Arts, with a special presentation of Cirque Eloize: ID, written and directed by Jeannot
Painchaud.
The show was a stunning mix of classic circus and urban street dance, adding up for a lot of fun for the audience. Highlights include incredible stunts on a bicycle, trampoline, poles, stack of chairs and aerial silks -- all set to the background of a dark metropolis, with gangs battling for turf and identity.
The show is in Toronto only until the October 9th, but the Sony Centre has a great lineup of other shows for this season. Check them out here!
The Sony Centre is Canada's largest soft-seat theatre and originally opened in October of 1960 with Julie Andrews in Camelot; now, 50 years later, the theatre is fully renovated and ready to reclaim it's spot as a must-see in Toronto.
