The place to see truly innovative interior design is, as the name would have it, The Interior Design Show. IDS has been in business since 1999 and is Canada’s largest contemporary design fair. Each year world-renown designers and architects participate as keynote speakers and create inspiring feature exhibits. This year's design derby runs from January 26-29 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. You can purchase tickets online or at the door.

DesignGenNext

Home to the design heroes of tomorrow, DesignGenNext showcases the cutting-edge work of the industrial design and craft students from Canada’s top schools. IDS 11 participating institutions included: Ryerson University, Humber College, George Brown College (Institute Without Boundaries), Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD), and Sheridan College.

Art of Travel

What makes the ultimate hotel getaway? Internationally renowned luggage manufacturer RIMOWA presents this inspiring exhibit, designed by Sasha Josipovicz of Studio Pyramid. The Art of Travel is all about finding beauty and in every part of your trip. This feature exhibit promises to be an indelible home-away-from-home experience, with furnishings by Flou, the high-end Italian bed and wardrobe manufacturer.

How do you Live?

Home to 170 condo developers with over 80 cranes currently standing, Toronto is at the forefront of the worldwide condo development trend. This trend will be highlighted on the show floor with a cut-away, 2-story building demonstrating multi-dwelling living. Living with design will be demonstrated at every turn with unique spaces, each designed and decorated by a different Toronto-based design firm.

Studio North and Prototype

IDS 12 marks the 10th anniversary of Studio North. Exclusive to IDS, this show within a show was introduced to support Canada’s vibrant and independent design scene featuring ateliers and designer-makers from coast to coast. The showcase now features 60 Canadian and International designers exhibiting one-off and custom collections of furniture, lighting, glass, ceramics, textiles, and surface design in a gallery-like installation.
